Cathedral of Matera

The Cathedral of Matera apparently dates back to the 13th century. Apulian-Romanesque in style, it has preserved several elements of its original architecture on the outside, while the interior has undergone radical changes. The rose window on the main façade is very beautiful. This religious building has a Latin cross plan with three naves. In one of the chapels there is a magnificent stone nativity scene from the 16th century, while in the right aisle you can see a stunning Last Judgement.
