Antica Focacceria is a historic shop opened in 1834 inside the deconsecrated chapel of an old building, in the heart of the ancient city. It is always been the temple of panelle and spleen sandwhiches. Renovated in the late 19th century to a design by Ernesto Basile, it has always been a meeting point of Sicilian history and culture.
They say that even Garibaldi and his Thousand stopped there for refreshment. Today, in addition to focaccia with spleen or panelle, you can also enjoy typical Sicilian dishes: from pasta with sardines to aubergine roulade, from caponata to sarde a beccafico to desserts such as cannoli, cassata or granitas.
Antica Focacceria’s Sicilian cuisine can also be enjoyed in the outlets of Rome and Milan.
