Vendicari Wildlife Oasis

Between Noto and Marzamemi lies the spectacular Vendicari Fauna Oasis. Thanks to the massive presence of marshes, this reserve is very important for the stopover of migratory birds, such as flamingos, that gently colour the Sicilian sky pink. This reserve is also known for its many archaeological finds. The Vendicari Tonnara is the undisputed symbol of the whole area: its Arab nature shows how important this type of fishing was and still is today for catching tuna. The Tonnara is divided into two parts: the pedal, that is the wall of nets detached from the coast and reaching up to 70 metres in depth, and the island, a structure below sea level. Vendicari also offers long, fine beaches, suitable for those who love to relax by the sea, and truly fascinating rocky vistas, for those who love to venture into the waves.  Among the most important beaches are: Marianelli Beach, Calamosche Beach, San Lorenzo Beach, Vendicari Beach, and Eloro Beach.
