Valle delle Ferriere, in the province of Salerno, is a protected natural area in the Campania region. You can access this wonderful park from different points: Amalfi, with just an hour’s walk, Agerola, taking a steep road from San Lazzaro, and Pogerola. The peculiarity of this Reserve is the typical ‘inversion of vegetation’: a mixed mesophilous forest persists at the bottom of the valley, while lush Mediterranean scrub prevails in the upper part. The fauna is characterised by hares, foxes, wild boars and badgers, but also sax thrushes, blackbirds, goldfinches and spotted salamanders. It is a spectacle for both nature lovers and trekkers, who will have the opportunity to be guided by several associations in the area.
