The Black Pearl of the Mediterranean
Barren and wild in appearance, Pantelleria is an intimate and reserved haven for those who decide to spend their holidays discovering the most authentic Mediterranean. Visitors are undoubtedly fascinated by the Dammusi, typical stone constructions with white roofs, and the endless expanses of zibibbo vines, the most widely cultivated grape variety in this magical place.
The volcanic origin of the island is powerfully manifested in the stunning Venus’s Mirror, fed by spring water ranging from 40 to 50 degrees, where it is possible to make skin-beneficial mud wraps. Extremely beautiful are the Cold Cave, in the Bukkaram district, and the Sataria Cave, in which 40-degree thermal water flows.
Deep blue sea, crystal-clear water, priceless diving, fish-rich seabed, boat excursions and fiery African sunsets. Pantelleria offers spectacular landscapes: sheer cliffs dropping into the sea, vertiginous overhangs concealing quiet coves with incredible colours, mysterious sea caves with bewitching shapes alternating with gently sloping rocky esplanades, which allow even children access to the sea.
Pantelleria is a great destination for those who enjoy diving and snorkelling: the seabed of Cala Levante and Cala Tramontana is rich in marine fauna and flora and very popular during the summer. These two beaches and the pebbly beach of Khattibuale on the eastern side are very comfortable for families. A spectacular sea can be found at Cala Cinque Denti, accessible both by land and sea, at the Elephant Arch or at Laghetto delle Ondine, a charming natural pool of lava stone.
Since 2014, Pantelleria’s bush vine cultivation is an Intangible Heritage of Humanity
