Beauty between history and nature
The Sorrento Peninsula boasts a truly rich cultural and environmental heritage! Attractions are many and all very interesting. From a naturalistic point of view, the Punta Campanella Marine Protected Area, established in 1997, involves the coastal municipalities of this area, from Massa Lubrense to Positano. Mount San Costanzo, part of the Monti Lattari chain, dominates the entire area at 497 metres and is bordered by the beautiful Bay of Ieranto.
For lovers of art and painting, we recommend visiting theCorreale Museum, where you can learn about the history of the city of Sorrento. Here, among its many riches, you can admire the collection of furniture and caskets typical of a local artisan ferment dating back to the 19th century and a section of valuable paintings from the 17th and 18th centuries in which the southern figurative civilisation is reflected, consisting of still lifes and landscapes from the Posillipo school. Other important cultural sites of interest are the Museo Bottega della Tarsialingnea, famous for its display of local inlaid work, Villa Fondi de Sangro, which houses the ‘Georges Vallet’ territorial archaeological museum, and the Basilica of Sant’Antonino, one of the most visited churches on the entire Sorrento peninsula.
