Roman Villa of Tellaro

The Roman Villa of Tellaro is a masterpiece of mosaic art from the 4th century B.C. Its floors are strewn with splendid mosaics, among the most important ones of that era. One of the most beautiful scenes is the Ransom of Hector’ s Body. Here, Achilles, Diomedes and Odysseus of Ithaca are focused on weighing the fallen Greek hero. Other rooms in the Villa are dense with other backgrounds: hunting parties, satyrs, tigers and geometric motifs.
