National Archaeological Museum

The National Archaeological Museum of Naples houses the most important collection of art and archaeological artefacts in the country. It consists of three main sections: the Farnese collection, the Pompeian collections and the Egyptian collection, second only to the Egyptian Museum in Turin.

Major restoration and renovation work on the building, which began in 2012, will allow some collections not yet on public display to be accommodated. These are the section on Magna Graecia, the Cumaean section and the section on Pompeian statuary.
