Duomo of San Giovanni Battista

The Duomo of San Giovanni Battista, patron saint of Vietri sul Mare, dominates the town. The most characteristic element of the church, which makes it Vietri’s symbol, is the majolica dome with green, yellow and blue fish-shaped ceramics, the so-called scandole. The colours are so vivid that they can be seen even from a distance. Architecturally, the church is a mixture of Romanesque, Renaissance and Baroque styles. Upon entering the sacred building, you will find precious ceramic altars and paintings by Solimena and Flamming.
