The most significant monument on the island of Capri is the Church of San Michele, built in the 18th century to a design by Domenico Antonio Vaccaro. It has an octagonal Greek-cross plan in Baroque style. The most striking feature is the floor of majolica tiles depicting the earthly paradise and the Expulsion of Adam and Eve. The floor dates back to 1761 and was made by one of the greatest majolica workers in Naples: Leonardo Chiaiese.
