Attractions in San Vito Lo Capo

Nature and culture, traditions and worship symbols

San Vito Lo Capo offers many sights, both natural and cultural, for a unique travel experience. Starting from the town, you can visit the Mother Church, or Santuario, where the town’s martyr, San Vito, is celebrated. Built by the Saracens as a fortress, it has undergone several architectural transformations over the centuries: military, civil and finally religious elements can be found. With its votive niches, the beautiful altar and the watchtower, every corner of this place tells the story of the town and its people. A few kilometres from the centre, there is another jewel: the Tonnara del Secco. Legend and reality are intertwined in the stories of the fishermen who participated in or witnessed the ‘mattanza’ of tuna in spring. Next to the tonnara, you can still see the remains of the fish processing facilities, dating back to the 4th century B.C.

If you are looking for a nature holiday, you are in the right place! San Vito Lo Capo has two protected nature reserves: the Zingaro Oriented Reserve and the Mount Cofano Reserve. The most striking beaches are to be found in the Zingaro Reserve. Here you will find stretches of fine white sand alternating with rockier shores. The Mount Cofano Reserve is the perfect place for unforgettable adventures among the hills and cliffs!
