Archaeological Park of Contrada Diana

The Archaeological Park of Contrada Diana on the Lipari Acropolis was established in 1971. It is the green lung of the island.

The Archaeological Park of Contrada Diana on the Acropolis of Lipari was opened in 1971. Besides being the island’s green lung, it houses the remains of Greek and Roman walls, five churches, including the Cathedral of San Bartolomeo and the Church of Madonna delle Grazie, the remains of more than 2,500 funerary monuments, including underground chamber tombs from the Roman Imperial era, and a votive pit: the Bothros of Aeolus.
