Chiesa del Gesù (Church of Jesus) is also known as Casa Professa. Built by the Jesuits and decorated by the best known artists and marble workers of the 17th and 18th centuries, it dates back to 1564. Hit by an air raid in 1943, it was rebuilt on the original model. The interior of the building is one of the finest examples of Sicilian Baroque art: it contains stuccoes and sculptures by Gagini, Benzoni and Vitaliano.
