Il Santuario di San Vito Lo Capo or Santuario di San Vito Martire dates back to the 15th century, but has undergone many changes over time. All that remains of the original church structure, surrounded by a fortress, is the Chapel of San Vito with a statue of the saint attributable to Gagini.
The young patron martyr is celebrated with the recreation of his beach landing and a procession. And of course, the inevitable fireworks. An incredible spectacle, made even more magical by the sunset colours over the sea.
