Castello di Peschici The Castle of Peschici stands on a high rock overlooking the sea. It was built around the year 1000 as a defensive post against pirate and Saracen raids. Under Frederick II, the manor was enriched with a tower, the ‘Rocca Imperiale’, while during the Spanish regency, a more protective enclosure was built, known as the ‘Baronial enclosure’. Today, it is possible to visit this cultural attraction, inside which period artefacts and utensils are preserved. You cannot leave this place without looking out from one of the terraces overlooking the Tremiti Islands.
